Adler decided that he was coming early. He was born at 35 1/2 weeks. I started having contractions around midnight. I had had a few other nights that when I layed down to go to sleep I had some contractions but they had gone away after about an hour. I kept thinking these ones would go away too because it was too early for him to come. I got up at 1:00am and went to the bathroom and walked around thinking that would make them go away. I layed back down and dozed off but they kept waking me up. At 4:00am when Jerimiah got home from work I told I'd been having contractions. He asked how far apart they were and I had not even thought to time them because I was planning on them going away. I started timing them as he packed our bags and they were about 8-10 min apart. He was ready to go to the hospital but I was in denial and kept thinking they would go away. Evi woke up around 5:30 and we got her ready and we headed for the hospital around 7:00am. Leaving Evi at Grandma Shonie's house was so hard for me, I cried about half way to the hospital. By the time we got to American Fork and got Jerimiah some breakfast the contractions were about 3 minutes apart but not too intense. I thought for sure they were going to send us home but Iwas dialted to a 4 and the contractions were getting stronger. After getting my epidural and having my water broke we waited and waited. Jerimiah's dad and step mom had come and we were visiting. I started feeling some pressure and the nurse came in and checked me and told me I was at a 8 1/2 she sat my bed up and told me to let her know if anything changed. The second she walked out the door I felt a lot of pressure and Jerimiah ran and grabbed her and she checked me again and I was at a 10 and ready to go. The doctor wasn't quite there yet and I thought I was going to die trying to not push! As soon as the doctor got there and gloved up I pushed 3 times and out he came! They had to take him to the nursery after I held him for a minute because he was having a little bit of a hard time breathing. As soon as I could walk I went down to the nursery and watched him have his first bath and get checked out by the doctor. Poor Jerimiah was so tired because he had been awake for over 24 hours. He zonked as soon as we got to the room and I don't think he really woke back up until sometime the next afternoon. We came home from the hospital Tuesday afternoon and ended up back in the hospital Thursday morning because his jaundice level was really high. We spent the next couple of days there with him under the lights. They had to put an IV in him and it took them 8 tries. Poor little guy was screaming mad and poor mommy was bawling. He looked like he was in a tanning bed with his little goggles on. I am so lucky that my mom was able to come from Wyoming and spend the week with us. She took such good care of all of us but espeically Evi. I think they both grew to really love each other. Every day when she talks to Grandma she jumps up and down as I hand her the phone and she gives her big kisses through the phone! Adler has been such a good baby! I almost feel guilty because he lays in his cradle or sits in his chair most of the time because Evi requires so much of my attention. He only gets mad when he's ready to eat or when I change his diaper. He is such a blessing to our family and I am so grateful to have two beautiful and healthy children!
